A look inside home with hydroponics lab
SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A homeowner is offering an inside look at his home after SWAT discovered a hydroponics lab allegedly set up by renters.
Police discovered the marijuana grow house Monday night, following a SWAT standoff. The special response team stormed the home in search of a burglary suspect but found no one inside. They did, however, discover find that the home was being used to grow marijuana.
Miami-Dade Police removed the marijuana plants from the condo, located on 69th Avenue and 38th Street, that evening. The owner, who had rented out the home to a couple with twin 7-year-old boys, said he had no idea what was going on inside his home.
Miami-Dade Police are still searching for the couple who was supposed to be living in that home. Tuesday morning, the homeowner, who chose to remain anonymous, offered an exclusive look inside the home. Marijuana leaves still littered the floors, and there were "High Times" magazines fill of tips on making the plants flourish.
Monday night, Miami-Dade Police brought out three large plastic bags full of plants. As many as 18 full-grown marijuana bushes were found growing inside. The room were the culprits set up the growing operation was just two steps away from a child's bedroom. "It was a family," said the homeowner. "Two kids."
The condo was left ransacked by the SWAT team who had charged in looking for an armed burglary suspect. But police were misinformed about the suspect who had actually lived there over a year ago, and has since been cleared of any suspicions.
Police do not have names or pictures of the two suspected of setting up the hydroponics lab they stumbled upon while hunting down the burglary suspect.
