Phillips Exeter Student Excels in Int'l Math Contest
Phillips Exeter Academy sophomore David Yang led an American group of students to a second-place finish in an international math contest last month. China placed first.
Yang tied for the fourth-best individial score of the International Mathematical Olympiad, which was held in Amsterdam.
Participants took a four-and-a-half hour, three-problem exam. A sample question can be found here: http://www.imo-official.org/problems.aspx .
More than 100 nations competed in the event.
