Graphic designer judges student-made board games in Washington Township
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Orchard Valley Middle School social studies teacher Chris Janeczko welcomed local award-winning graphic designer Paul Micarelli as the judge in his board game design project. As a culminating activity to a unit on the Middle East and our country’s current energy problems, Team 7-O students were charged with creating board games that teach people about the energy challenges that face America.
Micarelli created the board game “DaVinci’s Challenge” which won the 2005 Mensa Select Award and the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Seal of Excellence and commended the students for their creativity and design elements that conveyed the social studies lesson in an entertaining and engaging way.
