It took a long time for things to be right again, Phillips says. First, 35 years after they first dated, she and her "sweetie," Gerald Phillips, were reunited. Then, they began going to car shows and at one of the shows "found a '57 Chevy for sale exactly like the one I owned many years ago. I bought it and have it to this day," says Phillips. "Back in the 1950s and '60s, people where known by their allegiance to one make of car," Falk says. "They generally bought from one manufacturer and very rarely switched brands." In the fall of 1949, when his dad was trying to decide on a new car, he told him: "Get a Chevy, Dad. They're better on trips." He was so proud when his dad drove home a two-tone green, 1950 Chevy Deluxe, a car his dad kept until Peter graduated from college. After he graduated, Falk purchased his own Chevy -- a marina blue Chevelle Malibu coupe with a "three-speed stick shift on the column and the standard 195 horsepower, 283 cubic inch V-8" engine. The day he picked it up, he heard someone start an L71 big-block Corvette outside the dealership door. "When I went outside, all I could do was stand there in awe of that beast," Falk says. He didn't drive his dream car home, but was still proud of his new Chevelle. It was blue with a white roof, huge and one of many Chevys to come in her family -- others included an olive and yellow, two-door 1956 Bel Air, with yellow and black seats, a '65 Bel Air she learned to drive on, and a 1972 Caprice that "was like driving a Cadillac." It was a gas hog yet built like a tank, which she learned when she "kissed" one of the concrete supports when pulling onto Leh's parking deck. "It had a nice little 283 cubic-inch engine and a huge trunk -- perfect for moving this student back and forth to college and graduate school." Wimmer and his Chevy "traveled many miles together, through snow storms ... and many, many quarts of oil," he says. And with the miles, came decay. "My Chevy wasn't much to look at after a while. Its entire life was spent outdoors. The paint faded, the upholstery had begun to rot and it started to rust through." Still, he remained true to his Impala, despite a few problems. "On my very first date with my wife, the window handle fell off in her hand," he recalls.

It has a little body damage (see pic) at rt frt fender,35.00 at pull a part I have pulled out dent, now it just needs tobe bondoed and finished replaced. Interior is not great but okay small tear in drivers seat and same on passenger. Its not perfect but after all, it is almost 25 yrs old. Also center console lid has been removed (hinge broke) i may still have in garage, headliner fabric was sagging so removed just the fabric, can get new/used one at pull-a-part for 18.50. All parts are plentiful at pull-a-part for way inexpensive also has alum wheels 50% tread Stock suspension so it’s not lifted. have taken out wheeling less than 1/2 dozen times and it has always done very well. oh yeah windsheild is cracked. I would sell for 900 or trade of equal value. thanks people. And dont be shy, tell me what you have i might like it.
