Driver assaulted at traffic lights in attempted robbery
A MOTORIST waiting at traffic lights in Quedgeley was punched in the face during an attempted robbery.
The victim, an 18-year-old man from Gloucester, was sat in his blue Renault Clio at lights in Bristol Road around 10.15pm on Sunday, June 12, when a man approached his car and peered into the passenger window.
He then walked around the front of the car and looked into the driver’s window, prompting the victim to wind the window down.
The man told him he was going to take the car and tried to force the locked door handle before punching the victim in the face.
The victim managed to drive off, having sustained significant bruising and swelling to his right eye.
police are searching for a black man, aged 25 to 30, 5ft 10ins tall, of stocky build and with very short or shaved black hair.
He was wearing white Nike Air Max trainers, grey jogging bottoms, a navy blue Adidas jacket with red piping on the sleeves and a black top underneath.
He had been walking along the pavement from Cole Avenue prior to the incident.
