Mapping the Future with Apps
The prevalence of apps has not gone unnoticed by the business community -- app development has become its own industry. According to Mission Viejo, Calif.-based mobile development company Avatar Ventures Corp., the app industry is expected to grow to $18.7 billion by 2014. But it's not just giant corporations like Facebook and Amazon that are driving the app market. Avatar Ventures estimates that small- and midsized businesses will contribute $9.9 billion to the industry's growth. Raster Media builds Web-based software, including smartphone applications.
