CIS All-Star
Prop forward Whitney Black, a graduate of Quinte Secondary School, has been selected to the roster of the first-ever CIS Canadian women's university all-star rugby team that will participate in a two-game series against their U.S. counterparts in July in Lake Placid. Black plays collegiate rugby at Trent University in Peterborough and club rugby in the summer for the Belleville Red Lion Lady Bulldogs.

Belleville's CogecoTV took first place in two categories at the Star Awards held recently in Toronto. The annual event showcases outstanding programs produced by the 22 TVC channels across Ontario. Producers Ian Acton, Jack Miller and David Steenburg won Best Sports Production for the documentary "Making Memories: 30 Years of the OHL Belleville Bulls," while producers John Costello and David Foot took top honours in Best Sports Feature Reporting for "The OHL Tonight: Wellington Dukes Playoffs."
Soccer champs
The ACE Painting U14 boys Belleville Comets soccer club charged through the recent Peterborough Challenge Cup to take tournament honours in their division with a 4-0 win over Kawartha Lakes Inferno in the final. Clark Albert, Matthew Scott, Sheamus Ady and Colin French scored in the final while Scott was Game MVP. Belleville opened with a 2-1 win over Ganaraska United (Mason Norlock 2, Scott) before dropping a tough 3-2 loss to the Darlington Dragons (Albert, French). Comets rebounded to tie North Durham United 1-1 (Norlock), then posted a 3-1 win over Cavan FC in the semi-final round (Brad Chapman, Albert, Addy). Game MVPs — in order — were Scott, keeper Jarrod Hannah, Scott and Alexei Boretski.
Softball tourney
The Duvall and Clark squirt Belleville Bandits turned in a 2-and-1 record at the recent Napanee Express fastball tournament. Brady Potter fired six strikeouts in a 12-3 opening game romp over the Ennismore A's with Spencer Goodfellow (3 singles), Nolan Abrams (double), Potter (double), Nick Kyte, Aidan Brownlee and Tyler Gordon producing hits. In Game 2, Bandits blasted the Cobourg Clippers 12-5 with Jake Ethier hurling a five-K win. Hits came from Potter and Kyte, each with a double and single, Goodfellow (triple), Abrams (double), Ethan Green, Brownlee and Gordon. Bandits fell 5-0 to the host Express in the final. Ethier absorbed the loss, although he fanned 10 batters, while Kyte contributed at the plate with a triple.
U13 Comets
The Crossborder Solutions U13 Level 4 regional girls soccer team opened their ERSL season with a 2-0 win over Nepean Hotspurs. Kaelean Watters and Julia Tees supplied the goals while Sidney Spencer recorded the clean sheet. In an ERSL U13 Cup match, Breanne McQueen and Erica Seeley scored in a 2-1 Belleville victory over the Nepean City Storm.

I have the red super 2 speed clippers and have never used double k clippers. I see so many matted dogs all the time, some are ridiculous, but I have had my current clippers for over 4 years. (I have been grooming for over 10 years) I continuously check for the wear and tear within the housing, the blade drive etc. I take it apart every few months to thoroughly clean and check for issues. One major issue that seems to be going on is that the power cord keeps getting ripped out of the back of the clippers. So I have to replace this at least once a year. Other than that, these clippers are great. I would love to try a more powerful set but I am trying to conserve in case I break a blade/ need to replace a part on my existing clippers. Overall I think these are great clippers because they fit comfortably in my hands and get through some pretty tough jobs. Just a little bit of maintenance can make these clippers last much longer than expected.
