Bus Carrying Federal Prisoners Crashes On Rt. 30 In Beaver Co.
HANOVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Investigators said a bus carrying seven federal prisoners crashed on Route 30 in Beaver County on Tuesday. According to police, the prisoners from Ohio were on their way to Pittsburgh International Airport when the crash happened in Hanover Township. One person suffered minor injuries. Trooper Dean Aires said the prisoners were unable to escape. "They were in the bus with their legs and arms shackled to the seat. They could not get out," Aires said. Police said the bus went off of the road and crashed into a wooded area. "They were way back there in the woods. We had a hard time pulling them out. On route 30 beginning at the Indiana/Ohio state line we traveled east 250 miles to the city of East Liverpool on the Pennsylvania & West Virginia borders. Although the weather was a bit rainy we enjoyed seeing the sights along this historic highway. We traveled for two days, not nearly enough time to really dig into all the interesting history along this byway. If you get the chance make the drive.
