Professor Layton getting a mobile game called Professor Layton Royale

The Professor Layton series is an on-going and popular puzzle adventure game.  Providing a series of logic based puzzles for players to solve that are actively tied to the plot of each adventure, the game series has found wide appeal throughout the world on the Nintendo DS platform.  Now, developer of the Prof, Level-5 announced a partnership with Japanese mobile company DeNA to bring an entry of the series to its Mobage mobile platform.

The game will be titled “Professor Layton Royale” for the combination of elements from Professor Layton series and the mobile Kaito Royale series.  The game will allow a player to pick from three different classes to use in the game (Citizen, Thief, or Detective).  Other gameplay details are scarce at this point.

Currently, the title is only scheduled for Japanese release.  As with other Professor Layton titles, localization is a huge obstacle in bringing the games over seas, so the West is likely to see the game at some point in the future.  Good signs for a local version come from DeNA purchasing western mobile gaming publisher “ngmoco” (Rolando and Topple being their biggest titles for iOS).
